Biography:

Fuser is Ian Black (guitar/vocals), Dave Morello (drums), Pete Black (guitar), Dan Hart (bass)

They first rocked the NZ music scene in 2006 with the release of their self-titled debut album, ‘Fuser’. And they certainly fell firmly on their feet. It wasn’t long before heads in the music industry began to spin and take notice of this Auckland based atomic-rock ensemble.

Soon after the release of ‘…Fuser’, two of the band’s songs were chosen for the ‘NZ on Air’ funded programe, ‘Off the Record,’ a show run by ‘The Rock’ radio station. Through ‘The Rock FM’, Fuser was a recipient of the highly sought after ‘Rock Scholarship.’ If all this wasn’t enough for a band in their first year, they also completed a Nationwide NZ tour, and as a huge bonus, had their song The Rules included on a compilation CD for UK magazine, ‘Rocksound’ – an honor shared with other great kiwi acts like The Have, BlindSpott and Red Line.

2007 saw the release of the ‘NZ On Air’ funded video You Will Know, which received airplay on music channel ‘C4’. This was also the year Fuser began to mature as a live band. At their inception, though all individually experienced musicians, Fuser was purely a studio project and the guys had little live performance experience together. So what’s the best way to hone the art of the live show? Jump out of the pan and into the fire of course! The band gigged relentlessly as either headliners or as support for the Bleeders, The Tutts, Jordan Luck and Storm Large (from the TV show `Rock Star Supernova’). They also completed a Nationwide tour supporting the Phil Rudd (ACDC) produced Las Vegas all girl rock band Jaggedy Ann.

Things got even better for Fuser in 2008/09 with five of their songs chosen to feature in the ‘Demon Energy Supercross’ TV show. Endorsements were also in play with Demon Energy as well as drummer Dave Morello securing a Full A-level International endorsement deal with Swiss based cymbal maker, Paiste.

2010 saw the release of World of make believe, the bands 2nd album. This bought overseas interest. With the 3 singles If I was, Head up in the clouds and World of make believe playing in North America and the UK the band set it sites on bigger shows. Tours 2010/2011 saw the band solidify itself as a great live act. 2011 also saw the bands music represent HB Monster Trucks having If I was as the promo video.

2012 saw the writing of the 3rd album get underway and more shows. With tour support slots for US acts Everclear and Sinclarity, the live shows continued to grow in size

Right now Fuser’s primary focus is the making of their 3rd album and playing live shows. Having just come off the back of the Presidents of the Untied States of America shows Fuser are living the dream. Writing, recording and playing. Good times!

Biography:

YOUTUBE http://youtu.be/B_8WztndZHk

Born in the cultural hub of Malaysia, from an early age, Khylune displayed a deep fascination and curiosity toward the western performing culture; more precisely, everything coming out of Hollywood. For hours he would sit in his room watching endless rounds of movies and listening to his little radio and wondering what the reality would be like by comparison to his perceived notion of the entertainment Mecca. Combining his paltry savings and some borrowed money, he decided to embark on an adventure to fly 16 hours to this land of promise.

It was every bit as exciting as his perceived notion; the land of hope and glory. Unlimited pop soda refills at fast food outlets, drop some coins in a vending machine and a whole pile of newspapers are for the taking, Zebra crossings where one can cross the road without being knocked down and an endless list of surprises. It was one incredible discovery after another for him. Perhaps this is paradise on earth?

It was the late eighties and everything was roaring and surging ahead. This is the place where everyone aspired to be. His excitement was short lived when his funds very quickly ran out and he could not find work. As luck would have it, he met an elderly couple who took him in and who later became his foster parents. As it turns out, his foster dad was Arthur Mogull, A&R executive extraordinaire who worked for nearly every major pop music label, including Warner Bros., Capital Records, and MCA, and in the 1970s he was president and then owner of United Artists Records. His impressive discovery among others, Bob Dylan, Laura Nyro, Bill Cosby, Olivia Newton-John, Wilson Phillips, and Hootie and the Blowfish.

Khy was unflustered with his situation back then as he was not fully aware of how important the people he was with in the music business. He remembered one day sitting in the lounge listening to and picking a song with his foster dad which later turn out to be Wilson Philip’s number one single in the US chart in the mid ‘90s; the song titled Hold On.

Fast forward to the present, after many years living in the UK, Khylune has taken the decision to spend a greater portion of his time in South East Asia over the next few years. Honing his art as a songwriter and utilizing his experiences from his unorthodox background Khy has come up with this new song, “Made In China” to highlight how much times have changed after all these years

The America as he knew is now the benefactor of many things foreign especially China. How things have reversed. With the roaring economy and population explosion in Asia, it is inevitable the West is now paying close attention in that direction including music. K pop is on fire all over Asia and China has finally opened up its doors to music reality shows, formatted to suit the population of more than 1.3 billi

In 2011 Khylune auditioned for the 16 time grammy winner David Foster’s Born To Sing Competition and was selected as one of three contestants to perform on stage at the David Foster and Friends concert in Malaysia, one of six participating countries in Asia. Khy has finally decided to step forward to push his boundaries to newer heights.

News From Travel Michigan Vice President George Zimmermann

Michigan’s tourism industry ended the summer with a bang, according to the latest hotel data from Smith Travel Research. The industry set records for hotel occupancy, average daily rate (ADR) and revenue per available room (RevPAR) for June, July and August, with the one exception being June’s occupancy rate which was slightly below June of 2012. Year to date through August, Michigan’s hotel occupancy rate was 58.8%, up 1.6% over the same period last year. The average daily rate (ADR) for Michigan hotels through August was $88.10, up 4.6% from 2012. And revenue per available room (RevPAR) through August was $51.82, up 6.2% from the first eight months of 2012.

Michigan Cares for Tourism is looking for tourism industry volunteers to help implement their first historic site clean-up event October 6-7 at the Mill Lake Outdoor Center in Chelsea’s Waterloo Recreation Area. Visit www.michigancaresfortourism.org for event information or to register. Michigan Cares for Tourism was the winner of the Jump Start competition at this year’s Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism, and this is a terrific opportunity to share your time, talent and resources to give back and enhance the travel experience here in Michigan.

Finally, to recognize October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month we – along with all state agencies – will be going pink on our social media sites. As part of that effort, we would like to invite you to send us a short list of events happening in your communities in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A portion of these events will be included in a blog post on Pure Michigan Connect. Because we won’t have space for every event we will also send our fans to the comprehensive Michigan event calendar on the American Cancer Society website. Events can be sent to Chad Wiebesick at wiebesickc@michigan.org.

Safe travels always,
George

New Release from Nichole Nordeman “Be My Rescue” On Sparrow Records / Capitol CMG Label Group

Nichole Nordeman

“BE MY RESCUE”

“For me, the most humbling part of Dr. Grahams’ message over so many years, has been his commitment to keep the Gospel simple and accessible. The church is a complicated and divided place right now. Our Lord is not. Dr. Graham has always sought to point to the heart of Jesus, and steer clear of exhausting theological arm wrestling. I need to learn from that.”

New Release from Switchfoot “Love Alone Is Worth The Fight” On Word Entertainment / Atlantic Records

“Often times, I am caught by my fears…of failing and of what other people might think. A lot of times, our fears are what hold us back. In many ways, fear is the opposite of love. If God, Himself, is love, and our identity is found in that, then we are able to love those around us in spite of our fears. To be a lover, you have to be a fighter. You have to endure and face those fears. I hope this song inspires you to be both a lover and a fighter.”

Karen Spurlock (featuring John Katina) “Love Is Calling”

This single reached #1 at Vision Radio Network in Australia and has remained in the top 5 for 4 weeks and is still in the top 10 after 6 weeks.

Lyrics:

I spent the last few nights/ Wishing that could be a light (a light)/ I spent the last few days/ Searching for ways to be the face/ of change, of change

Come on , love is calling you/ Come on, love is calling you/ Reach the fallen, reach the broken/ Help them keep going/ Come in, love is calling you

I met a girl today/ She bears the weight of her mistakes/ I met a guy last night/ With tear stained eyes he wants to find/ A change, a change

Come on , love is calling you/ Come on, love is calling you/ Reach the fallen, reach the broken/ Help them keep going/ Come in, love is calling you

You can be the change/ You can be the change

Come on , love is calling you/ Come on, love is calling you/ Come on , love is calling you/ Come on, love is calling you/ Reach the fallen, reach the broken/ Help them keep going/ Come in, love is calling you
