Rozsa Center’s 2014-2015 season features Broadway favorite Camelot and Russian National Ballet Theatre’s acclaimed Swan Lake

HOUGHTON, Michigan (August 20, 2014) – Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts’ 2014-2015 season will bring world-class entertainment to Michigan Technological University’s campus in Houghton. The season includes 24 performances, encompassing film, lectures, music, theater, dance, opera and more. From Broadway and ballet to a cappella and jazz, the Rozsa has programming for all tastes and all ages. The season even includes a unique opportunity for a local student to perform alongside professional actors. Flexible season ticket packages are on sale now through August 31. To help patrons keep track of 2014-2015 season events, Rozsa is bringing back its full-color wall calendar, which lists events taking place each month. The calendar will be mailed to season subscribers and local businesses. The general public can pick one up at the Rozsa Center or call 906-487-2073 for distribution locations.

The Rozsa’s 2014-2015 season highlights include a return of the Russian National Ballet Theatre’s Swan Lake and a reimagining of the beloved Lerner and Loewe Broadway musical, Camelot. Set to the hauntingly beautiful Tchaikovsky score, Swan Lake tells the classic tale of Odette, a beautiful maiden transformed into a swan by an evil knight. Featuring a darker, grittier Sir Lancelot, the four-time Tony Award-winning Camelot tells the fabled story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Local male students in grades elementary to middle school will be invited to audition for the featured role of Tom of Warwick in Camelot. Stay tuned for details about this exciting opportunity.

The Rozsa’s 2014-2015 season will have plenty of fun family entertainment, including The Very Hungry Caterpillar and the ever-popular Rainforest Reptile Show for younger audiences. The Rozsa Center also offers two unique programs designed to engage area high school and elementary students in the arts. Class Acts Extra Credit is geared toward high school students who can earn extra credit for attending a show for $1.00. Class Acts offers shows for all ages and interests. On sale now through August 31, the Rozsa offers two ticket packages at significant discounts over single ticket prices, with all the same subscriber benefits season ticket holders enjoy. A Full Subscription of $340 provides entry to all 24 shows in the 2014-2015 season. Subscribers are guaranteed the same seats for every show. With the Pick 6 package, patrons receive one ticket to their choice of six different events from any of the 24 events in the 2014-2015 season. Austin Webb To Be Spotlighted In Mini-Series

(Nashville, Tenn. – August, 2014) Streamsound recording artist Austin Webb will be featured in a behind-the-scenes, three-part mini-series, titled Follow. Beginning Aug. 22, the first of three weekly episodes will stream through Taste of Country and later broadcast on Your Country (AXS-TV) Aug. 24 at 11:30 a.m. ET / 10:30 a.m. CT. Each episode is under three minutes in length and follows Webb as he travels the country to perform shows and connect with fans while spotlighting his unique sense-of-humor and cheeky personality. In the series, fans will witness Webb’s dedication to his music and get to know the artist he has been influenced to become.

It took us over a year to finish and during that time we both had things happen in our lives that took the song even closer to the bone. The icing for me was when we got the legendary Dan Dugmore to track pedal steel. Durban born, Justin Egling, aka JMAXX is a rare talent, displaying a deep understanding of South Africa’s various black cultural influences. Coming from a Portuguese mother, a Jewish father and German grandfather, he boldly ventures into the world of rhythm.

His love for the African beats and rhythmic influences forges a complex character, searching for release. This driving force feeds his desire, pushing him forward, expressing itself through song; a curiosity becomes a hobby to write and compose his own melodies and lyrics, and then finally, late in 2008 it culminates in the evolution of JMAXX.

​​…..will probably be a THING on September 23, from 7 – 8:45 p.m., at the Peter White Public Library’s Community Room, and each week after that, in another location. That will be our Chapter’s first meeting, ever!

Three days before that, you and many, many more are invited to attend the Escanaba Remnants Chorus show, called the Harvest of Harmony on September 20. Their headliner quartet is Masterpiece (International Champions, 2013!!) Check them out on YouTube, or at barbershop.org.

We intend to hire a Checker bus (or two, if the need arises) to pick us all up around 5-5:30 p.m., travel directly to the 7 p.m. show, take us all to the Afterglow that usually lasts to about midnight, then take us all to our pickup spot(s). Show tickets, with Afterglow are $20. Donations for cold cut sandwiches at the Afterglow average around $5, (drinks are extra), and the bus cost will range from $16-30, depending on how many attend and which vehicle(s) is/are used that night. Totals for the night could range from $30 – $55 each person. This is yet another example of “Many hands, light work”!

Sooner is better: A local self-identifying ‘Groupie’, Blanche Brown, is already calling a list of 68 people from Marquette and Alger counties that are on record for attending previous Remnant’s shows on their own, and many of them may jump at the chance to safely nap on part of the way home, before you even get the chance! Others make a weekend of it, staying in Escanaba overnight on their own.

Documentary Feature Film “The Anatomy of a Great Deception” Makes All Star Red Carpet Premiere at The Fillmore Detroit on September 5th

Ed Asner, Omar Sharif, Richard Gage and Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth Come Together to Support Detroit Premiere of 9/11-focused Feature Length Documentary Film “The Anatomy of a Great Deception”.

Detroit, MI (August 19, 2014) – Documentarian David Hooper premieres feature film The Anatomy of a Great Deception (AGD) about one innocent question turned personal investigation of 9/11. The result? His marriage, relationships and sanity were pushed to the brink – everything crumbling around him. He has one chance to get his life back. This film is that chance.

“The Anatomy of a Great Deception is the result of my initial unanswered questions. How could WTC Building 7 fall when no plane collided into it?” asked David Hooper, AGD Documentarian. “This film is the result of my engagement in conversations with others on their thoughts and findings on 9/11. I hope this film can further that dialogue.”

AGD Technical Advisor, Richard Gage (AIA Founder, Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth), recently appeared on C-Span’s Washington Journal for a 45-minute segment with Host Peter Slen – a notably rare opportunity for the 9/11 Truth Movement to present their message to a national audience of millions. The invitation was a result of a year-long campaign by supporters requesting that AE911Truth appear on the show to spotlight WTC Building 7’s story. Gage presented to viewers that the focus of AE911Truth’s 2,200 architects and engineers was the science of the event, and based on their conclusions, they are calling for a new, independent investigation.

Hooper’s search for answers put him on a direct path with Gage. Gage saw the film after the initial friends and family viewing which ignited a YouTube following and a partnership evolved from there.

“This film has the best chance in years to push the 9/11 debate into the mainstream,” said Richard Gage.
