Kaleko

KALEKO is a new Berlin musical and visual project created in 2014 by Sebastian Klein and Thomas Will. The project consists of KALEKO music itself and a fictional universe depicting a “virtual band” of cartoon characters. This band has four animated members: Dr. Owlglass (lead vocalist, guitar), Pihi Apollinaire (bass guitar), Golda Bleibtreu (keyboard and drum machine bass guitar) and dog Lucha (snapping and barking).

KISS THE CUP is their first release and a theme song for the FIFA World Cup held in Brasilia. The song is an encouragement for the players to fight with passion and win the cup. It will be released together with the B-Side WHERE FOOTBALL IS LOVE . The alternative version is dealing with the Football World Cup from the fans perspective, as place to come and celebrate together peacefully.

The artist name KALEKO is a reminiscence to Mascha Kaleko, a jewish german language poet. She attained famous at an early age by capturing the athmosphere of Berlin in the early 1930s, before her writings were banned under Nazism. Her extraordinary sense of humor, cynical neo romantic tone and the ability for playing on words kept her work fresh over the years.
