Michigan’s final hotel data for 2012 is in, and it is the best we have seen in the past eight years, since we started getting this information from Smith Travel Research in 2004. The statewide hotel occupancy rate for 2012 was 56.8%, up from 55.3% in 2011. The average daily rate (ADR) for 2012 was $83.44, up from $80.47 in 2011. And revenue per available hotel room (RevPAR) was $47.42, up from $44.52 in 2011. All three measures are at their highest levels since 2004, and the health of the hotel industry is a good barometer for the broader Michigan tourism industry.
