BOYNE FALLS, Mich. – Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls is opening for skiing and snowboarding this Friday and Saturday, November 15 and 16, becoming the first resort in northern Lower Michigan to open for the 2013/14 season. Two slopes, Victor and Pierson, and the Hemlock chairlift, are open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lift tickets are $25 for most ages. This is the earliest opening for Boyne Mountain Resort in over 20 years.
The resort started making snow with their proprietary Boyne Low-E fan guns on Monday afternoon.
“Our snowmakers and groomers have been working hard,” said Ed Grice, president and general manager of Boyne Mountain Resort. “We always strive to have our passholders and guests out on the slopes doing what they love as early as possible. This opening comes a few weeks earlier than we’re all use to, which is a bonus.”
The resort plans to close the slopes temporarily after Saturday to resume snowmaking. Colder temperatures are expected to return early next week, and when they do, Boyne Mountain stands ready to once again fire up their fleet of snow guns.
Hours of operation are weather dependent. For the latest updates on snow conditions, please visit www.BOYNE.com or for more information, call 800.GO.BOYNE.
