EarthCam Time-Lapse Documents Construction of the King Abdullah Sports City

WHAT: EarthCam’s new time-lapse movie showcases construction progress from July 2012 to April 2014 for the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The new state-of-the-art sports facility boasts 60,000 seats with VIP and royal viewing boxes, multiple training fields and a mosque. All progress was captured from several unique perspectives by EarthCam’s digital SLR construction cameras for historic archive and time-lapse photography.

WHY: This significant project proved to be a massive undertaking for construction teams at the Al Muhaidib Contracting Company, who developed 3.5 million square meters of land in less than 24 months to make way for the new stadium. The new sports city will serve as a landmark structure for Saudi Arabia.
