Michigan’s tourism industry ended the summer with a bang, according to the latest hotel data from Smith Travel Research. The industry set records for hotel occupancy, average daily rate (ADR) and revenue per available room (RevPAR) for June, July and August, with the one exception being June’s occupancy rate which was slightly below June of 2012. Year to date through August, Michigan’s hotel occupancy rate was 58.8%, up 1.6% over the same period last year. The average daily rate (ADR) for Michigan hotels through August was $88.10, up 4.6% from 2012. And revenue per available room (RevPAR) through August was $51.82, up 6.2% from the first eight months of 2012.
