I am representing Pure Michigan this week in London at World Travel Market, the largest travel trade show held in the U.K. We are working the Great Lakes USA booth at this marketplace with representatives from Cellet Travel Services, which represents Great Lakes USA in the U.K.; Toby McCarrick, Executive Director of Great Lakes USA; Keith Kirsten from the Detroit Metro CVB; and representatives from Minnesota and Wisconsin tourism. Cellet has done a great job preparing for this marketplace, scheduling 40 appointments with British tour operators, travel media, etc. for our delegation to meet with during this four-day marketplace.
Great Lakes USA is the marketing consortium of the tourism offices in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota, which promotes the region in the U.K. and Germany. Travel Michigan has been a member of Great Lakes USA since its founding in the 1990s.
With the expansion of our international marketing budget and efforts in 2014, we are holding a tourism industry international information session on Wednesday, December 4, from 1:00-4:00 p.m., at the Kellogg Center, 219 S Harrison Rd, East Lansing. During this session, we will review our international program for 2014, including opportunities for tourism industry participation, as well as the complete offerings from Great Lakes USA and Brand USA. There is no charge to attend, but you do need to RSVP to Regina McCloud at McCloudR@michigan.org.
The Michigan Travel Commission meets this Friday, November 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the Michigan Room at Michigan International Speedway, 12626 U.S. Highway 12, Brooklyn, MI.
