Sean Gallup/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — The New York Times on Saturday published on its website an open letter from Dylan Farrow, the adopted daughter of director Woody Allen and actress Mia Farrow, in which she calls attention to past accusations that he abused her as a child.
In her letter, which was billed as the first time Dylan Farrow has written about the matter publicly, she recalls when she was 7 years old, Allen led her to a “dim, closet-like attic” at their home and, she says, sexually assaulted her.
Farrow, who is now 28, married, and living in Florida under a different name, details other instances of alleged abuse.
She writes, “I didn’t like it when he would stick his thumb in my mouth. I didn’t like it when I had to get in bed with him under the sheets when he was in his underwear. I didn’t like it when he would place his head in my naked lap and breathe in and breathe out.”
Farrow says, “These things happened so often, so routinely, so skillfully hidden from a mother that would have protected me had she known, that I thought it was normal.”
