Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce Congratulates Kaylyn Kutchie on Winning Miss Upper Peninsula USA

CONGRATULATIONS, KAYLYN KUTCHIE!

Kaylyn KutchieWe would like to extend our congratulations to Kaylyn Kutchie on winning the title of Miss Upper Peninsula USA! The pageant, which was held at the Forest Roberts Theatre, had fifteen participants.

“When the announcer called my name for the title of Miss Upper Peninsula USA, I immediately started crying. I thought about how far I’ve come in my twenty-five years of life and what I’ve gone through up until that moment,” Kutchie said.

Kutchie has been battling stage two brain cancer for the past six years, sometimes questioning whether she would even live to see adulthood.
Understandably, it was a surreal moment for Kutchie to see a packed theater standing on their feet, cheering and applauding her win. What she finds even more surreal is the amount of support that has poured in for her — phone calls, e-mails, text messages, Facebook and Twitter messages, and even a fan page.
“I feel so incredibly lucky and honored to have this title, and to have this many people be happy for me. That’s the best part.”
Kutchie is now eligible to compete in the Miss Michigan Pageant in September of this year, which she plans on attending.

“Whatever the outcome at Miss Michigan, this is an experience I will have with me forever that no one can take away,” Kutchie said. “I’m going into it hopeful and excited and I hope to be as well prepared as I was for Miss Upper Peninsula.”

We are very happy for you, Kaylyn, and wish you the best of luck in the Miss Michigan Pageant!
