“What makes this song special is that it was inspired by victims of human trafficking. Several months ago, we (The Reel and collaborator Phillip LaRue) met with our young friends living in the Courage House and heard each of these girls’ heartbreaking stories, poems and songs based off their traumatic experiences. From there, we knew that we had to write ‘Come Back Home.’ This song was born from their personal stories and it was also written as a voice for the girls still trapped in that life of abuse. Our hope is that they would hear this song and find the courage to leave and start over at a place like (Courage Worldwide’s) Courage House. We’re passionate about using our music to be a voice to those who are unaware of the atrocities taking place with young women, daughters and sisters – many in our own country – and to help bring more girls home from this terrible world of trafficking.”
– Cameron Stymeist, lead singer/songwriter, The Reel
Come Back Home, a compilation album produced by Phillip LaRue and Ben Phillips, was inspired by the moving poetry and stories of the girls at Courage House – young girls rescued out of the horrors of sex (human) trafficking both in the U.S. and in Africa. The funds to produce this album were raised privately so that 100% of the sales can help build Courage Houses around the world. Exclusive songs were written and donated for this project by Jars of Clay, Mike Donehey of Tenth Avenue North, Us and Our Daughters (Phillip and Lia LaRue), The Reel, and more.
Courage Worldwide is an international, non-profit organization that is building homes around the world for children rescued out of sex trafficking. Their passion and vision is to build “Courage Houses” in every city that needs one so rescued children will have a safe place to call home. They also want to eradicate sex trafficking completely.
With Courage House locations open in Northern California and Tanzania, and with efforts underway to build a home in Hawaii, they are committed to not only rescuing child victims of sex trafficking, but also to restoring their lives.
