Michigan Feature Film Casts over 40 Local Actors

Novi, Michigan -January 28, 2013 – Pre-production continues on Michigan-made feature film “Papou” as 40 local actors are cast as lead and supporting roles. A family film about the relationship of a young boy and his grandfather, “Papou” is directed by first-time feature filmmaker Michael Angelo Zervos and being produced by film industry veterans Michael Sinanis and Christos Moisides. The film touches upon thematic issues of life and death through the storytelling lens of a child.

Zervos is thrilled about the caliber of talent that he and his team have found in the state. “There has been very little need to search outside of Michigan for most of my talent. With a very large cast such as the one with this film, that is a rare thing indeed,” admits Zervos. “I’m particularly impressed with the child actor talent that I’ve met. We have some very demanding roles in this script and the children we’ve auditioned have exceeded our expectations. They’re going to bring a strong element to the project.”

“Papou” has recently been submitted to the Michigan Film Office’s Film and Digital Media Incentive in hopes of receiving state film credits. Zervos insisted on filming his feature in Michigan due to his love of the state and his desire to see the industry in Michigan thrive again. “Why travel to LA to shoot this film when I have excellent creative personnel here and I can make it for half the price? Businesses, friends, family, and strangers have been very receptive to our plea for their help.

Attached is Emmy-nominated comedian and actor, Basile (Jimmy the Greek, 2009). However, Zervos has yet to reveal the full cast though his company will soon be making an announcement in the coming weeks.
