LANSING – Pure Michigan wants to hear from fans about where they go to make memories in Michigan. The Michigan Moments photo contest is being launched on the Pure Michigan Facebook page today, and the winning photo will be included in the 2014 spring/summer Pure Michigan Travel Guide.
“We are launching this Facebook photo contest as a way for our fans to showcase what Pure Michigan means to them, and illustrate the beauty and unique destinations found throughout the state,” said George Zimmermann, Vice President of Travel Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “We had tremendous participation in our last Michigan Moments photo contest and we are excited to hear from our fans again this year.”
Photos for the contest may be submitted directly to the Pure Michigan Facebook page via the photo contest tab, or through Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #PureMichiganContest. All submissions will be found on a customized Facebook tab on the Pure Michigan Facebook page. Submissions should identify the location in Michigan featured in the photo.
Photos may be submitted until midnight on Sunday, November 10, 2013.
Fans will be able to vote on the photo they believe best represents Pure Michigan during a voting period that runs from 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11 through midnight on Sunday, November 17, 2013. Fans may vote for multiple entries; however only one vote per person will be allowed per entry, per day during the voting period.
The winning photo will be published in the 2014 spring/summer Pure Michigan Travel Guide. One million copies of the guide will be printed, with 650,000 copies being distributed with the March/April issue of Midwest Living magazine.
More than 3,300 photos were submitted to Pure Michigan through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram during last year’s Michigan Moments photo contest with 54,384 votes being cast in total. Photos ranged from sweeping landscapes to family portraits and featured scenes and destinations from all across Michigan.
