It’s here! Whoopie! 740,000 hunters will take to Michigan’s woods, fields and meadows Saturday through Nov. 30. Combined with other deer seasons, including bow and youth hunts, they’re expected to kill nearly half a million deer out of the state’s herd of 1.85 million. Will you be one of them? All I know is that one of those MUST have Ducks name on it!
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources sold just over 1.1 million deer licenses through Tuesday, up two percent over last year for the same time period. The increase likely is due to this year’s early doe season in southern Michigan, said Mary Dettloff, DNR spokeswoman.
